Per Sept 20, 1971 Philadelphia Inquirer: Boo Morcom (age 50) placed 5th with a 4,649 point Decathlon held at Franklin Field on Sept 18-19, 1971.

Scoring Tables:
The Combined Events are scored by tables listed on WMA and USATF.
International Standards are no longer used for Masters competition.

International Standards:
International Standards use same the standards as used in the Olympics. This includes 42-tall hurdle height / spacing,
and same field event implements (discus, javelin, and shot) standards as used at the Olympics.

In the past several masters track and field athletes completed in the International Standards Decathlon.
Masters age 60 plus had included:   Darrold Skartvedt, Bud Deacon, and Stan Thompson

Outdoor Pentathlon (LJ, JT, 200 M, DT, and 1500 M):
The first Masters National Outdoor Pentathlon Championship was held July 1-2, 1972 at San Diego’s Balboa Stadium.

Indoor Pentathlon (High Hurdles, LJ, SP, HJ, and Distance Run):
The first Masters National Indoor Pentathlon Championship was held Jan. 13, 1985 at Dickson College, Carlisle, PA.  Found on page 263 in Olson’s “Masters Track and Field a History” book is the meet results
for the Jan. 13, 1985 TAC Masters National Indoor Pentathlon Championship.

Odd Story File:  (Dec 1991 NMN, PDF, pg 16 of 24):
Decathlete Boo Morcom, M70, of Wilmot Flat, NH, livened up when he received word recently that Medicare had denied a $38.31 claim he had submitted. Explaining the reason for denying the claim, Medicare wrote, “The date of this service was reported after the date of death.”  Not quite dead yet, Morcom responded :  “Dear Sirs, I have received your letter of October 3, 1991, in which you stated your refusal to pay my medical claim for $38.31 because, as you indicated, the surgery was performed after my death. My feeling is you are guilty of bureacratic nit-picking and that you are just a bunch of meanies.”  As a postscript to his message, Morcom added, “P.S. Don’t bother to send flowers.”
