Note:  Peter Mundle, John L Hayward, and Gijs Knoppert were part of the Masters World Records Committee at one point, and were also involved with World Masters Rankings at one point.  Unofficial World rankings were provided by Veteris Magazine (by JL Hayward, Jack Fitzgerald, and others) and other publications.

  • 1977 rankings: “All monies that had been sent for the 1977 rankings will be returned” (NMN Spring 1979)
  • 1978 to 1979 [1980]: by Geza Feld was responsible for the US Rankings.
  • Note: Geza Feld issued a “12 page pamphlet” for rankings.  [missing copies] (as stated in: Masters Track and Field A History by Leonard T Olson).

[1980] 1981-1987: Official US masters rankings: by Haig Bohigian

  • 1980:  Haig Bohigan (NY): In 1982 a booklet was issued for Late-1980.
  • [1980] 1981 to 1987: by Haig Bohigan was responsible for the US Rankings.
  • Note: Haig Bohigan issued 102 & 134 page “booklets” for rankings.  [missing copies] (as stated in: Masters Track and Field A History by Leonard T Olson).
  • 1981 Indoor:  In Early-1983 Haig Bohigan (NY) issued a Late-1981 Masters Track and Field Indoor Record Book.  ISBN 978-0-933390-07-2
  • NMN printed some of the rankings inside the magazine: (link)

1986: Unofficial Arthur Gray (Australia) was planning to compile unofficial International Rankings lists in the 1980s (NMN, April 1987, PDF, pg 26 of 44)

1970s/1980s:  California Track News and later California Track & Running News: (newsletter/magazine) ran “California Masters” Rankings.  Peter Mundle and Percy Knox were involved with these efforts. (several issues can be read on-line at Issuu.com )  The Nov/Dec 1975 issue carried the first list.
